D.U.R.A is an independent designer/illustrator based in Kuala Lumpur. Started her career as a corporate wear designer in 2005 with Playez International after graduated from UiTM in Diploma of Interior Architecture. Four years working experiences have given her the confidence to work out her own character designs and artwork which has been incorporated to t-shirts, tote bags and small accessories.
She exposed her work to the public in year 2008 where she firstly joined a group exhibition and local art and craft bazaar in Soho, Mont Kiara. She then actively participated art bazaars in promoting her artwork to local market.
Her work is a mocking life of real people, which addressed the feminine issues towards their surroundings and the interactions between the same genders. The attraction of female figure is so strong that it became the main influence in most of her artpieces. Fashion, nature, patterns and colours are also blended in the subject matter with water colour and ink as the main medium.The other main subjects of the art pieces are mainly on girls with animal like features, which reside in their own secluded world that is called ‘The Fashion Forest’. The themes revolve around, love, companionship, tenderness and innocence.
D.U.R.A is currently partnering up with her dear friend Nirwana Tuan Sariff in managing their new shop and studio which is based at Lot 33G, Jalan Medan 2, Bukit Indah, Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
